The bond between a mother and her daughter is probably one of the strongest emotional ties that exist in this world. There is something between them that only they can understand. If you are a mother or a daughter, you know what I am talking about. From the time a mother cradles her daughter in her arms, until the time that she sees her cradle her granddaughter in hers, and longer still, a mother and daughter closeness is almost something that can not be explained. Of course, it's human nature for a mother to love, cherish, nourish and teach her daughter, and although the latter two may cease, the loving and cherishing never stop, and it begins to travel both ways as the years go by. This past Friday night our church held its annual Mother and Daughter banquet. I honestly think that this is one of the most anticipated events that our church is responsible for holding. There is something about getting 300 plus ladies together with their mothers and daughters. It makes it even more special when they are all ladies that love the Lord, and are striving to teach their daughters to follow in their footsteps and follow the Lord. My Mother was not able to attend, and I did catch myself feeling a little dejected and sad, but I never felt lonely, or out of place. All of the ladies there are like family to me, and I am privileged to have them as my friends. I was able to spend the banquet with my "second mom". She was kind enough to take me as her daughter, and I was privileged to take her as my "mom"! We had a wonderful time, and I am already looking forward to next year. Even though I had a great time with my second mom, I am anticipating next banquet with my "first" mom! No one can take her place!Monday, February 9, 2009
